So, this week has been a very busy week -- writing -- writing -- lots of writing -- and lots of art, trying to get those illustrations for the hardcover of Key done. I've also been so lucky to have a great friend who was able to get me into OzComicCon here in Adelaide despite being late for the application date. So that is awesome!! I am just so excited! (Thanks Bruce, you're epic!)

So as most of you, dearest readers, would know, I have been trying really hard to get Book 2 -- Protectors -- finished by the end of April. Mammoth task. I'm about half way through at the moment, and freaking out silently inside.
Last week I spent a great deal of my thought-time dedicated to one thing in particular, reader interpretation of my novels and the themes/concepts/characters/values etc. etc. in my novels.

Lately it seems I have been getting pretty sick, or just getting worse, or having a flare-up -- I honestly have no idea what my body is going -- it's just being awful to me -- so I have been contemplating a lot about living in the moment, taking each day at a time...

So last night I sat down and I wrote this really fabulous blog, it was epic. Then, as I finished it and was about to post it, I must have pressed the wrong button and...my website ate it. Alas, no epic blog post. I honestly cannot remember much of what I said in it, because I had a bad headache at the time and I think it was must a one off master piece.
Sometimes, that is how life goes I think, we do something incredible, marvelous and we are so very proud of ourselves for that achievement and then, puff, gone...we feel as though we will never be able to do that incredible feat again.

Soooo...this morning I woke up early and once again made my way down to the city with my parents, early.
The city is lovely in the early mornings. I have to admit that, there is something really beautiful about the shops being shut, and just wandering the shopping district in this kind of strange state of 'before-ness' -- maybe it is because I don't go the city often that I appreciate it more -- but goodness -- guys -- this is twice is one week! This is a record for me!
My reason for adventuring out of my comfortable house today was to deliver some books to the lovely ladies who work at Angus&Robertson under the Myer's Center.
You can tell they love books there. Something about the way they talk to you, they know books and I was glad to give Key to them. I truly hope it sells there.
Then I went to Dymocks -- which if you might recall from my last blog -- I had delivered some books on Tuesday.

This morning I woke up in an incredible amount of pain. I believe my first thought was, as I rolled out of bed at 6:15AM was "Just great, fabulous way to start the day." I had gone to bed the latter night in considerable pain as well, so it truly was no surprise to me that I woke up in such a state -- but I was a bit disappointed.
However! This was not going to put a damper on my day, no, sah! No! Today I had decided I was going to head down to Dymocks in the city (Adelaide, Rundle Mall) and deliver a stack of books for their lovely shelves. I was, am still am, very excited about this -- even if it is on consignment, which pretty much means that if I don't sell enough books in the three month period I'm off the shelves -- but THIS has been one of those things I have always wanted, to be on a bookshelf in Dymocks in my own city and no amount of pain was going to stop me from marching down there to do just that.

And so a new year is already in full swing. I had high hopes to begin a fabulous writing regiment, to plough through Book 2 and finish the first draft by April! Alas, it seems, my high hopes were a little bit too high. Sometimes, things just take their own course and their own direction.
Though I know the directions of my story, the ins and outs, the plots and loops, and the characters all rather well, I still find myself stuck in imaginary swamps, rather unsure of myself and what direction to go.

Merry Christmas! Hello my dear readers! I hope this wonderful season has found you all well and cheery and not to stressed by the rush that can some upon us. There is much to accomplish in such a short December month sometimes.
However it is the looking back I find most interesting, truly.
The ending of the year is the oddest of things. The contemplating how quickly a year can pass. It has not felt as though time has moved since last Christmas and yet, it has. Is this a part of growing up I wonder?
